TV on the Internet, Episode 98: Young Americans, As Performed By Hannibal Lecter

Todd and Libby are joined by their friend and colleague Zack Handlen to talk about two of the most exciting television programs on the air right now: The Americans and Hannibal. There will be much discussion of if the latter has a problem with its female characters and just why it seems like the former hasn’t been able to break out. There will also be much praise. And maybe a dance break. (Dance break not included.)

Please don’t make me tell you there are spoilers for these shows.

01:18.09-01:22.58 Wrapping up, featuring passing thoughts on the first episode of Game of Thrones, though weirdly non-specific, next week on, and where to find us.

Theme song, indubitably, by Adam Emperor Southard.

Check back next episode where we’ll tackle which show really is the best drama on television (until all hell breaks loose in April), The Americans or Hannibal.

TV on the Internet, Episode 97.5: How I Met Your Crushing Disappointment

Todd and Libby intended to record a quick, reactive podcast to the How I Met Your Mother finale. Instead, they got together with their friend Amy Whipple, who loved the damn thing, and hashed out just why Todd and Libby thought things went very wrong, while Amy thought they went very right. Also, Amy tells Todd how you can change the gender of a Furby.

Check back next episode (really) when we’ll tackle which show really is the best drama on television (until all hell breaks loose in April)(later April), The Americans or Hannibal. (Seriously though, next time.)

TV on the Internet, Episode 97: True Girltectives

Todd and Libby return from yet another hiatus with Sonia Saraiya in tow, and they have a particularly argumentative episode, particularly when it comes to Libby and Sonia throwing down over True Detective and Hannibal. But, okay, it’s not as dramatic as all that. Also, they discuss the third season of Girls, the major shocker on Good Wife, and a handful of other things you should be watching. And Libby calls Todd a “shitty baby” toward the end, which is everything and more. (Ed. note: Assume this is chockfull of spoilers.)

Time codes are as follows:

00:00.00-00:08.23 Saying stuff.

00:08.24-00:53.05 True Detective with a side of Hannibal.

00:53.06-01:21.10 Girls with a side of Trophy Wife shade.

01:21.11-01:44.27 The Good Wife and going down with the ship.

01:44.28-01:50.36 Wrapping up, featuring Todd being a shitty little baby, next week on, and where to find us.

Theme song, in perpetuity, by Adam Emperor Southard.

And they never did.

TV on the Internet, Episode 95: Sleepy Homeland

Todd and Libby are joined by The A.V. Club’s Zack Handlen to discuss two wildly divergent serialized dramas, starting with the wacky majesty that is Fox’s Sleepy Hollow, then pivoting to the downbeat dreariness of season three of Homeland. If only the two could be combined into one show! Also, they’ll discuss how to reboot The X-Files and just why Libby’s not getting enough sleep.

Direct download link.

We talk about Sleepy Hollow and Homeland through their currently aired episodes. Spoilers to those not caught up, I suppose.

Theme song by Adam Emperor Southard.

We’ll be back in two weeks to talk about The Good Wife and… something else (probably Brooklyn Nine-Nine.)

TV on the Internet, Episode 94: Breaking Bad? More Like BREAKING SAD!!!!!

Todd and Libby are joined by their ol’ Breaking Bad podcastin’ buddy Carrie Raisler, and they’re going to dissect the finale in order of most to least disappointed. Along the way, Todd will theorize about X-Files, as he is wont to do; Libby will provoke the ire of the Internet over and over, as SHE is wont to do; and Carrie will compose a fan musical about Jesse Pinkman’s arc in the last eight episodes. (Okay, she won’t REALLY do that. But she should have.) With a special cameo by the Big O.

We talk about Breaking Bad. Spoilers, I guess.

Theme song by Adam Emperor Southard.

Check back next week when we’ll tackle Homeland and Sleepy Hollow. That should be… interesting.
